My Approach
My Qualifications are in
Integrative Psychotherapy . This means that I am skilled in a range of psychological approaches, and I can select what works best for you. We will adopt the particular approach which most closely fits with your
Individual Needs .
The Psychological Theories which most inform my work are:
Systemic. This explores how we develop and exist within Relational Systems. Our relationships, past and present, are central to how we view ourselves and others.
Psychodynamic. A psychodynamic approach explores how our current patterns of relating with others have come to develop. It considers how some of our ways of relating may be outside our own awareness. Using the emerging relationship between us, we work towards bringing some of these hidden aspects of yourself into awareness. In this way, habitual and repetitive patterns of relating and behaving can be replaced by Understanding and Choice.
Cognitive Behavioural. In certain specific circumstances, a Cognitive Behavioural Approach may be the most useful way of supporting you to make the changes you are seeking. This approach links our thought patterns with our feelings and our behaviour. There is considerable evidence that this approach can be useful in many of the difficulties which lead people to come for counselling.
